Farleigh Hospice Regatta

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th August 2010

The regatta in aid of the Farleigh Hospice continues to be the Royal Corinthian's major charity event since it first appeared in the racing calendar in 2005. Last year broke all records - the best entry ever with over fifty boats making an appearance, helping to raise over £2,500 to assist Farleigh in its important work.

The Squib Class encouraged an entry of sixteen which might prove difficult to better although the Squibs always like a challenge!

If you cannot take part in the racing, you can still support the event by coming to the supper and, of course, buying raffle tickets which will be drawn on the Sunday afternoon. Supper tickets can be booked with the office.

COMPETITORS' INFORMATION

This year's Farleigh Charity Regatta will have the same format as last year with two races on each of Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. The notice of race, entry forms and sailing instructions are available on the RCYC website and from the office.

The Saturday starts are EARLIER than usual with the Elites being the first away at 13:00 (start time not warning signal) with the other fleets following at five minute intervals. The starting order for fleets can be found in the SIs.

The start of the first race each day will be from the club line racing to a committee boat (Tolerance) finishing line. The second race will be started from the start committee boat (Pheobe) as soon as possible after the finish of the first race of the day and that race will finish at the club line.

The weather mark for the second race each day will be Farleigh, an orange inflatable buoy laid approximately up wind of the start line.

All race fees go to Farleigh. Last year the format worked well, and, if the weather is kind, will hopefully work well this year.
