2012 707 Eastern Area Championships
Saturday 5th to Monday 7th May 2012
The May Bank Holiday saw the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club host the 2012 707 East Coast Championship. The fleet of seven was greeted on Saturday morning by a overcast river Crouch and a strengthening cold north easterly breeze. The visiting team on Black Sheep was keen to learn the waters and reached the racing area in the Roach ahead of the rest of the fleet.
707s at Easter 2012
Friday 6th to Sunday 8th April 2012
The RCYC 707 Easter Regatta was a very strongly contested event, with six entries, sailed over the first three days of Easter. It should have been a four day event but with the weather forecast not looking too good for the first race on Monday, the consensus was to have the prize giving on Sunday and a well earned rest the day after!
2011 707 Annual Report
Saturday 12th November 2011
Here we are at the end of another season. It has been a mixed season with reasonable
attendance at the 707 open meetings, a good fleet for the BSC Wednesday evening series but
a poor response for the weekend club racing, with the only consistent entries being Swallow
and Beaver Hunter, the later cleaning up most of the trophies.
707 Northern Area Championship
8th, 9th & 10th July 2011
The Royal Northumberland Yacht Club at Blyth hosted a superb 707 Northern Area Championship over three days 8th, 9th and 10th July as part of their East Coast Week Regatta. Sadly only five 707s made the trip (it is a long way from Burnham) three local(ish) boats, one from Scotland and Beaver Hunter.
Eastern Area Championships
Saturday 30th April to Monday 2nd May 2011
The May Bank Holiday Weekend saw the 707 Eastern Area Championships held at RCYC. The championships were contested by eight boats, five from Burnham, two from Hartlepool & one from Scarborough. After the perfect sailing conditions of the previous few days & an excellent Beer Festival at the RCYC, it came as a bit of a shock to have to sail in 27plus knots of wind on the first day
707 National Championships 2009
25th to 29th July 2009
The 2009 707 National Championships were hosted by Island Sailing Club at Cowes from 25th to 29th July, the week before Cowes Week. The Island Sailing Club made the 707 fleet most welcome with an excellent race team, brilliant sailing and fantastic socials. It was great to see two Scarborough boats Second Fiddle and Humdinger and "Well done!" to Betty and crew for winning the week.
The Phantom Trophy
Weekends 6th & 7th and 13th & 14th June 2009
The 707 fleet has been honoured to compete for the Phantom Trophy for a number of years. The Trophy was first awarded in the 1820s – and so is 30 years older than the America’s Cup. Indeed it is rumoured to be the oldest yachting trophy of all. The format of the races is laid down by the rules for the trophy – there has to be a combination of coastal, offshore, and inshore races.

707s at Volvo RYA Dinghy Show
7th and 8th March 2009
Several 707 sailors from the RCYC helped out with a very successful show stand at this year's dinghy show. Other than a Dragon, the 707 used for the display dwarfed all the other boats in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace and generated a lot of interest among those attending the show. "A lot of boat for the money" was heard regularly when people found out that a 707 ready to race could be purchased for less than £8000...
707 Class Captain's 2008 Report
Friday 28th November 2008
If 2007 may not have had the balmy summer weather of recent years, then the summer months of 2008 took it to the proverbial max! Most barbeques didn't even get a dusting off, but boats still sailed and endured lots of windy weather...
707s in Burnham Week
Saturday 23rd - Saturday 30th August 2008
There were eleven 707s out at the weekends and five throughout the week. Notable is that in the week there were only four adults between the five boats with the rest of the crews being Otters or ex-Otters home from university. The class is showing that it is a natural development for our Otters.
707 Phantom Trophy 2008
26th & 27th July 2008
The Hunter 707 Fleet had geared themselves up for the prestigious Phantom Trophy this year to be sailed over the last three weekends in July. The intention of racing to Stone was unfortunately cancelled at short notice due to poor weather; however we persevered with a rejigged format of a long distance race on the second Saturday.

Hat Trick for Baby Beluga!
25th July 2007
The 707s completed the series of races for the Phantom Trophy on the 21st July. It's an innovative series, designed to stretch the abilities of those entering. However, John Lewis' team on Baby Beluga seem to have worked it all out as they were victorious for the third year running!
Baby Beluga - East Coast Champion
8th May 2007
The 707 East Coast Championships held over the weekend of 5th to 7th May attracted eleven entries for the six race series, all local boats except Stuart Howells' Miss Moneypenny from the River Orwell. A consistent performance over the six race series by John Lewis and his crew in Baby Beluga was the secret of their success...

Saturday 5th August 2006
This demanding series was sailed over three weekends in August. 5th/6th August concentrated on inshore racing, the following weekend offshore and the final race on the 19th offered a long distance race. Last year the racing was close; John Lewis in Baby Beluga, did not win until the last leg of the last race. How will he fare this year?
707s at Cork Week
17th -21st July 2006
The weather Gods provided perfect sailing conditions for the second day the 707 Nationals 2006 at Cork Week. A 15 knot breeze, blazing sunshine, and dolphins leaping from the bow wave. What could be better than this?
