Calculating our racing results - Sail 100

All our results are generated by the Sail100 programme written by Bob McPherson. This is the most widely used results system in our area and is extremely comprehensive. It is used by all the clubs on the River Crouch as well as Burnham Week, Royal Ocean Racing Club and East Anglian Offshore Racing Association plus many more clubs and class associations around the country.

I remember years ago when taking my children to International Cadet Class events, that whilst I was out on the water in RIBs, Bob was often ashore having decided that as a software developer, he could create a better system for results than the pen and paper one currently in use by the Cadet Class and so wrote the first version that was used at the Cadet Nationals in 1995.

This was the start of the Sail100 results system and after being used successfully by the Cadet Class Association, other clubs and classes made contact and the use of this software became widespread.

Since the inception of Sail100, Bob has worked tirelessly to keep the software right up to date to comply with the latest rules and special needs of end users. The software can be downloaded from www.sail100.org. It's completely free, Bob simply asks that for the good and future of our sport, we all promote and encourage youth sailing, which of course we at the RCYC most certainly do.

The Royal Corinthian Yacht Club would like to thank Bob for providing this excellent system which we have used so successfully on our website for the last seven seasons.
