The National Sea-Safety Co-ordinator, Guy Addington, the new Area Safety Officer Clifton Warry together with the local Boat Operations Manager Dick Rycroft were also there, ready to answer members' questions about lifejackets, flares and general safety. Visitors were offered booklets and CDs to emphasise the latest information and technology. It gave an extra interest to the Otters who were out in strength for their 'Try Sailing Day'.

It all came to an exciting finish when 'Brandy Hole' got a "shout" downriver and departed stage left at a full 35 knots to the great delight of the onlookers. After that the collecting bucket did remarkably well with a large amount of 'folding money'...
