Saturday 12th May 2018
From 10am to 2pm
An open day and opportunity to try sailing with taster trips on dinghies, keelboats, yachts and rowing boats.
All welcome, bring the family!
We are holding our annual Open Day on Saturday 12th May from 10am to 2pm and extend a warm invitation to anyone who would like to come and visit our fabulous iconic building and discover more about sailing with the RCYC on the river Crouch.
Admission is free and we will be offering taster sails in dinghies, keelboats, and cruisers. The Burnham Coastal Rowing Club will also be visiting us during the day and will be offering taster sessions on their rowing gigs so there will be every opportunity to burn off any calories that you might happen to consume during the course of the day!
Members of our Junior section, the Corinthian Otters – for children aged between 7 and 18 - will be out on the water demonstrating their sailing skills and will also have some of their boats on display for you to view.
Refreshments will be available and our fully staffed bar will be open.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy lunching on our splendid balcony (please order and pay at the bar) and are welcome to stay on after the event to watch the start of our regular Saturday afternoon keelboat races.
If hoping to undertake a sailing taster, wear warm clothes with a waterproof jacket and bring a towel and change of clothing – by nature sailing can be wet! The club has a range of waterproof clothing that can be borrowed along with a selection of buoyancy aids to ensure that you remain safe on your taster sail.
Advance booking is recommended but if you turn up on the day without having done so we will, of course, do our best to get you out on the water.
