The cold, grey and wet start to the final dragon 4 race mini series of the season did not dampen the enthusiasm of the seven competing boats.
The course was set up and down the Roach for the first race, but a major wind shift led to a shortening of course and allowed Avalanche to beat Beauty and the Beast on the line. The mark layers were then called to move the entire course into the Crouch before it was possible to start the second race, won by Storm.
By the start of the third race, the committee boat was the only side of the line to start which resulted in a messy pile up at the start, but somehow all boats escaped contact and Avalanche, who was first out of the pack got away to record their second win.
Further earning their keep, the mark laying were fine tuning again before the final race. This time Scorpio got away, with Avalanche finishing in second place, thus winning the series.
A big thank you must go to Edwin and his team for running the mini-series throughout 2017.
